Celebrating Excellence: Allanson Shines at the AQIE Soirée Reconnaissance Awards

What an incredible evening it was at the AQIE Soirée Reconnaissance Awards, celebrating the dedication and innovation in the sign industry! This annual event recognizes the outstanding achievements of individuals and companies that continue to elevate our industry to new heights.

A highlight of the evening was the induction of our very own Pierre Carreau into the prestigious AQIE Sign Hall of Fame. As a cherished member of the Allanson family, Pierre has dedicated 40 years to advancing the sign lighting industry. Starting his career in 1984 when he was approached by a neon shop seeking a designer and artist, Pierre’s journey in the field began with a role that allowed him to combine his passion for art and design. “It was more fun than working,” Pierre recalls, reflecting on being paid to do what he loved—drawing. Over the years, he mastered the art of neon glass blowing and contributed to some of the most iconic signs in the industry.

From designing and building signs to fostering long-lasting friendships, Pierre shares what he loves most: “The diversity of building signs has so many aspects, and almost all of them were fun to do. Along those 40 years, I developed a solid brotherhood. My two best friends are old colleagues I met in 1988 and 1996.”

Pierre takes pride in the enduring impact of his work, saying, “So many signs up there were done by the company I worked for, which was quite rewarding. But the best reward was having a walk in shopping malls and telling my three daughters, ‘Hey, look, I worked on that sign.’” Recently, he contributed to refurbishing the iconic Archambault neon sign in Montreal, originally installed in 1937. “It’s one of the most iconic signs in the country, and I’m extremely proud of that one.”

Pierre’s induction into the Hall of Fame is a testament to his enduring passion and the legacy he’s built through his unmatched expertise, mentorship, and dedication. Thank you, Pierre, for your invaluable contributions—you are a true legend in the sign lighting industry!

The evening also celebrated other outstanding accomplishments. Susan Svotelis from Plaskolite was named Personality of the Year, recognizing her leadership and contributions. Additionally, Allanson’s own Alexandre had the honor of presenting the award for Best Illuminated Sign of the Year to Marc-André Dupuis, co-owner of Réflecteur for his stunning  for his stunning illuminated design that exemplifies the creativity and craftsmanship of the sign industry.
